The New Castle city has an extensive system of road links and also road based public transport services like buses and taxis. The rail transport too is accessible to small percentage of population along with the major rail transport routes and ferry services. The CityRail lines provide local as well as regional commuter services. The bus services are provided by the State Transit Authority of New South Wales.
