Lady Denman Maritime Museum
Lady Denman maritime Museum had been opened on December 3, 1988 by Dawn Fraser, an Olympian. This museum goes on to concentrate on history of Jervis district and Bay; inclusive of timber industry, early exploration, lighthouse history, Aboriginal history, shipwrecks, Naval base history, whaling history, and coastal shipping. A novel permanent exhibition called ‘Koori Coast’ got opened in the year 2003. Since then, it has been attracting visitors from all over the world. The other permanent exhibition, known as ‘Grand Visions’ is in the pipeline. It executes the task of looking at every grand plan which had been proposed for this region but never implemented. They include ‘Rail line to Jervis Bay’, nuclear reactor, military armaments depot, etc.
Timings
This museum remains open every single day between 1000 and 1600 hrs.
