The original name of the town was Quinbean that means “Clear waters”. As a township this city got proclaimed in the year 1838. Traces of gold were also discovered in this town in the year 1851 and later on silver mines were also discovered.
The land of Queanbeyan proved to be successful for farming with various crops. With the construction of Queanbeyan railway station the town developed rapidly and the economic condition also improved. Today the city has developed with high schools and various industries.
The climate of this place is quiet moderate and encourage visitors to come to this place throughout the year.
