Taree is located in the mid coast of New South Wales in Australia.
The city got its name from tareebit the local word that means tree by the river.
The place was a private town till 1854 and was used by Henry Flett who was the son in law William Wynter the first inhabitant to this place. Later on this place was connected to railway when the Martin Bridge was replaced by the ferry across the Manning River.After the bridge this city started developing and emerged with urbanization and industrialization.
Due to its strategic location tourist get attracted to this city. The city is nestled with beautiful landscape and various sightseeing. The city also has many historical sites that reflect the historical and cultural heritage if this place. Visiting this place during vacation is worthwhile.
The climate of this place is moderate and can be visited at any time of the year.
The population of the town comes to 16,621 according to 2006 census.
