An original site the Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve is the mark of the first European settlement.  It is one of the best preserved Overland Telegraph Line stations which was setup in 1872 between Darwin and Adelaide. The telegraph station was operational for almost 60 years before it was converted into a school for the native children.
