The town of Batchelor is in the Northern Territory of Australia which has a population of 718 with 39% of indigenous people. The town is located in the Coomalie Local Government Area at a distance of 98 kilometres (61 mi) in the south of Darwin which is the territory capital.
The town got its name from Lee Batchelor a person responsible for the Northern Territory while being ceded to the Australian government by South Australia in the year 1908.
The town serves as an access point for tourists traveling to Litchfield National Park.
