Cooinda: Attractions and more...
The name ‘Kakadu’ has been derived from one of the Aboriginal floodplain dialects known as Gagudju; that used to be spoken in the park’s northern part in early 20th century. Dialects like these are not heard of any more these days. However, descendants of the above-mentioned groups are still found staying over here.
Kakadu National Park has been managed on a joint-basis by Director of National Parks and Aboriginal traditional owners. The conventional owners enjoy the pride of having shared their locality with visitors.
