Litchfield is a National Park situated in Australia’s northern part, and 100km to the south-west of Darwin city. The region covers approximately 1500 km square and it is near to the township of Batchelor. Every year 2, 60,000 visitors come and visit the park. It was established in year, 1986. This place has been occupied and used as a residence by the aboriginal people from past several years. This place is still important to those people because they believe that their Ancestral Spirits have created the land, animals and plants and they also believe strongly that these spirits still exist in the land. Litchfield has lush green landscapes at all times of the year.
Recently the park was renamed after Frederick H Litchfield. The Park was first visited by Europeans in September 1856. In Litchfield National Park one can find common wildlife species like the Antilopine Wallaroo, Sugar Glider, Northern Brushtail Possum, and Agile Wallaby. Litchfield Park is also the location for hundreds of native bird species.
