Mataranka is a platform of mind blowing and charming places that refreshes the visitors’ spirit.  Stockyard Gallery is the home of an arts exhibition and the beauty of native arts and barramundi hand-feeding tours. The Never Never Museum educates visitors’ about the indigenous history of Mataranka. Another attraction is the Elsey National Park situated 8 km away from Mataranka. The famous Roper River flows through this park and tumbles over the rocks and Tufa dams. The popular sports in the city are fishing, swimming and canoeing. Tourists can explore the Park Overland near the riverside. Mataranka’s ‘Back to the Never Never’, is a festival of aboriginal culture and pastoral heritage, celebrated in the month of May. Another festival, Bushman's Carnival, is celebrated in the month of August and features campdraft, gymkhana and rodeoCutta Cutta Caves National Park, is the home of orange horseshoe ghost bats, which is also near Mataranka.
