Tourist Guide Pine Creek
Pine Creek is a notable tourist stop in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is the township in the Katherine region. Pine Creek was established in 1870, when telegraph workers excavated gold in the sand of this place. A number of events are held in this place to attract tourists. The Goldrush festival, Pine Creek races and Pine Creek Radeo are the prominent events held here. Traditionally Pine Creek was the crossroads of three big ethnic groups. Wagimans and Katherines were the traditional inhabitants of this place. The town stretches to the south-west of Stuart Highway and across the Daly River. Edward Ah Toy was recognised as the prominent resident of Pine Creek, in the year 2005 and was awarded the Northern Territorian. Mining was prominent in this place and later on with the coming of railways it closed down.
