Tourist Guide Daintree
Daintree is a settlement which is situated in North Queensland and is 111 kilometers to the north of Cairns. It is also 56 kilometers from Port Douglas in Queensland. The name, Daintree is taken its name from Richard Daintree, who was a pioneering geologist of British origin in North Queensland in the 1860s.
As of 2006 census, Daintree and its surrounding area had a population of 78. This city was first settled in the late 1870s and by 1880s timber workers settled in this city. Dairy Farms were later established which allowed butter factory to open in 1924. Later on, Beef farming became a vital local employer.
The Daintree Rainforest in Australia offers one of the utmost examples of tropical environment in the world. The rainforest experiences 120 days of rain per year and has an average of 2013 mm rainfall each year. When the rain is plentiful, the floods develop instantly in the river.
