Deception Bay is a small suburb located to the north of Brisbane of Queensland in Australia.
The city was named after Lt John Oxley who by mistake thought that the bay is a river and gave it a name Pumice Stone River but changed it to Deception Bay.
Earlier farming and dairy proved to be quiet successful on this land but now most of the blocks have been used for housing. Due to its access to bay and river with some interesting recreational activities and water sports, this land draws tourists throughout the world.
During low tide, one can also find two baths that gives an unusual look excavated from the bed rock. This baths are named as Bancroft 1 and 2. This structure was built by Joseph Bancroft who designed it for his sick wife to bathe in the salt water.
Since this place is located near bay it experiences a warm climate throughout the year.
The population of this town is 17,907 according to 2006 census.
