Lamington National Park, formed by the activity of two large volcanoes, is a World Heritage Site. Three rivers, namely, River Nerang, River Albert and River Coomera, originate in this protected region.
The important beaches are The Spit, South Stradbroke Island, Miami and Broadbeach. The beaches here are excellent for surfing as well as other water sports. Gold Coast also boasts of several theme parks: The Wet’n’Wild Water Park, Dreamworld, Warner Bros. Movie World and White Water World.
Q1, the tallest residential building in the world, is an architectural landmark and an important tourist attraction in Gold Coast. Other places of interest include Gold Coast City Art Gallery and Gold Coast City Arts Centre. Gold Coast has a range of music right from jazz to opera and forms of classical music.
The city hosts a thirty-day shopping carnival in June known as the GC Bazaar featuring massive discounts as well as a lot of entertainment.
