Tourist Guide Port Douglas

Port Douglas, around 70 km north of Cairns, is situated in Queensland, Australia.
With a population of 4,500, Port Douglas is the meeting point of two of the greatest natural world heritages, the Great Barrier Reef and the Tropical Rain Forest.

The town is characterised by a pleasant tropical climate with temperatures ranging between 14°C to 33°C. Owing to the soothing tropical climate and the revitalizing landscapes, Port Douglas has become a popular international tourist destination.

Port Douglas was named after the then Premier of Queensland John Douglas in 1877. It thrives mainly on the tourism industry and sugarcane farming, Mossman being the major sugarcane cultivating region.
