Tourist Guide Torres Strait Islands
Torres Strait is a group of several islands, which together are called the Torres Strait Islands. These islands, are populated with - at least 274, 17 inhabitants. The indigenous population of the Torres Strait Islands are the Melanesian people related to the Papuans of New Guinea. In 1879 the Torres Strait Islands were annexed to Queensland. Major Aboriginal languages are lag yya and Meriam world, as well as brokan (Creole Torres Strait Islander). According to the Australian Census in the year 2001 the population of the islands was 8089 people, while many more lived outside the Torres Strait in Australia. The island attracts tourists with its fabulous views.
The majority of the population comprises of Christians (70.9%25) followed by the minority non-Christians (2.3%25) and non-Religion (14.8%25) and none stated (12.0%25). The climate over here is at its maximum in summer which have been recorded as 49.5 °Celsius (121.1 °F).
