Proof of this multicultural activity can be found at the Hahndorf German Settlement which includes a chocolate factory and a Beerenberg Strawberry Farm. The state’s prize wines usually come from the Barossa Valley. Watch the whales swim along the Great Australian Bight in the south or explore the underground opal-mining town called Coober Pedy in the Outback region. Don’t forget to visit Wilpena Pound, a vast natural amphitheatre that can be found in the Flinders Ranges National Park. Some of the major events include the Fringe Festival (the second largest cultural event of its type in the world), WOMAdelaide (the country’s premier world music festival), FEAST (the lesbian and gay cultural event in early November), Tasting Australia (a biennial food and drink festival) and the popular Barossa Vintage Festival (held every two years).
