Tourist Guide Nuriootpa
From Nuriootpa, one can reach Adelaide, i.e. state capital within an hour (by road).
The name ‘Nuriootpa’ has been derived from a local word of Aboriginal dialect. It means ‘meeting place’ in this dialect.
Nuriootpa stands at northern end of Barossa Valley, adjacent to Sturt Highway. It’s amongst the picturesque towns of South Australia; with ‘grape vines’ having grown on certain buildings in mainstreets. Many vineyards surround the town.
Since 1930s, Nuriootpa is being cited as textbook example with respect to inspired development of community. This town’s community-owned as well as operated hotel is being funding several essential public facilities; inclusive of Senior Citizens’ Club, swimming pool, recreation areas, and swimming pool.
It needs to be noted that Nuriootpa’s northern outskirts lie in Light Regional Council.
