Port Lincoln is a coastal city which is located in the Boston Bay at the southern extremity of the Eyre Peninsula and lies about 280 kilometers away from the capital city, Adelaide. Port Lincoln is the largest city in the West Coast region. Port Lincoln occupies a total area of 24.9 sq km (i.e. 9.6 sq m). It lies in the time zone of ACST (UTC+9:30). Port Lincoln has a total population of 13,044 according to the 2006 census. Port Lincoln is considered to be the major commercial centre for the fishing fleet.
The presence of large grain handling facilities, having a total capacity of 337,500 tones, canning and fish processing works, wool, lamp, and farming for the Japanese market, etc makes Port Lincoln an important commercial centre. The Port Lincoln Airport situated in Port Lincoln is considered to be the second busiest airport in South Australia. Port Lincoln sets up a fine location for shooting and other artistic purposes.
