Bondi beach is one of the famous beaches in the Australian city of Sydney.
The beach is named after the surrounding suburb area. According to the records kept in the Australian Museum, the meaning of Bondi is the "place where flight of nullas took place".
Bondi beach is surely a spectacular place. The beach is one kilometer long.
Thousands of tourists visit this place throughout the year. Due to its increasing number of visitors, the local government has set several hazard ratings for the protection of the visitors.
According to these ratings, the northern end falls under the 'gentle 4' category. This means it is safe for swimming.
On the other hand the southern end has got the rating of '7'. It is dangerous due to the rip current.
The beach is protected with shark nets, which are placed underwater. This net stops the sharks from entering the swimming area.
This is the best place for surfing.
