This museum and the art gallery was built in the year 1891 on the wellington street and resembles the architecture of the 19th century. It houses a collection of ancient artifacts from the history of the state of Tasmania. The art gallery has several paintings and art collections, whereas the museum has materials from the historical times. There is the Macquarie house which was basically a Warehouse and at a later stage it became a Government office. It has provisions made for the disabled also.
