Built around three rivers namely the Tamar, the northern and southern Esks there is a lot of scope for water sport activities here. As the Tamar River is navigable, it is extensively used by tourists. The Port of Launceston is formed near the mouth of these rivers and is thus useful in the passenger and cargo transport in these parts. The rivers are dammed ahead which supply water to the city.
