Mt William National Park
Mt William National Park is situated in northeast Tasmania and about 156 Kms away from Launceston. Here it is possible to view Tasmanian pademelons and wombats, Bennetts wallabies and Tasmanian Forester kangaroo. If the visitor is fortunate, it is possible to catch sight of a timid Tasmanian devil. During summer, it is possible to view echidnas. If one takes a stroll along the empty pristine beaches, over 100 species of birdlife can be seen. In the coastal regions, one can watch the cresent honeyeater and the tawny-crowned honeyeater. Some of the heathland species found here are the kookaburra, firetail finch and the blue wren.
Mathinna Falls
Mathinna Falls is situated in the north-east forests of Tasmania and is a four-tiered waterfall. The gross drop of this waterfall is 262 feet or 80 meters. Especially after rainfall, this is a spectacular sight. These Falls are a quarter of an hour drive from Mathinna Town which is 63 Kms from Launceston.
Humbug Point Recreation Area
10 Kms towards the north of St Helens along the Binalong Bay one can find the Humbug Point Recreation Area. This is an excellent location for boating, birdwatching, diving, walks and fishing.
