Swansea is a small town situated at the center place of eastern coast of Tasmania, on Great Oyster Bay’s north-western shore, thereby having overlooked ‘Freycinet National Park’. It is a home to loads of bays, rivers, beaches, and numerous activities like swimming, sunbathing, and fishing.
Swansea is an evidence of early settlement on the part of British with its unique infrastructure and British settlement. It can boast of various communities like Swansea Model Yacht Club, Probus, SES, Volunteer Coast Guard, and ‘Swansea Players’ as well.
In the year 2007, community spirit got recognized as ‘Winner of National Tidy Towns’. Every May goes on to witness celebration of Baudin’s voyage to Swansea in early eighteenth century.
This festival features numerous wines and food events, model yacht racing, ‘Tour de Freycinet’ cycling race, and live music shows.
The population as per 1996 census was 495.
