Tourist Guide Ulverstone
The Ulverstone town is located on the North Western coast of Tasmania in Australia. The town is under the control of the Central Coast Council. The town is located on the origin of the River Leven on the Bass Strait. The population of the town as per the census in the year 2006 is 9760 which makes the town the second largest just after Kingston. The town is located adjacent to the Bass Highway. Near by towns are Penguin, Devenport, Burnie and Launceston. The town is 18 kilometers east of penguin, 21 kilometers west of Devenport, 28 kilometers from Burnie and 117 kilometers from Launceston. Ulverstone was declared as a town by the Governor H.E. Fox-Young on 22nd February 1861. The name Ulverstone was given to the town from a famous store in the town named Ulverstone store.
In earlier days Ulverstone was covered with dense forests. Later on various settlers came there and began the timber industry. Ulverstone is very famous for its timber industry. Good quality timber is available in the forests of Ulverstone. Ulverstone is also well known for other forms of agriculture. The place gets adequate rainfall and the soil is very favorable for agricultural development.
