The beach and the locality host all the materials for supporting surfing. Various surfing contests are conducted in the beach frequently for attracting tourists. Various coaching centers for surfing are also there at the Whales beach. Surf break called ‘the Wedge’ is located on the Northern end of the beach. The beach is also a great destination for film shooting. Various directors and actors come here for film shooting. Palm Beach, Tasman Sea, Clareville and Avalon are the suburbs located around the White beach.
