The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is the largest outdoor amphitheatre in the Southern Hemisphere. Immerse yourself in culture at the Old Melbourne Gaol, Chinese Museum and the Gold Treasury Museum or take the night out at entertainment venues like the Victorian Arts Centre, Athenaeum Theatre and the CUB Malthouse. The towns and villages of the Great Ocean Road region will reward your visit with artistic creations and products of the local people. Not to be missed is tiny Churchill Island, which has a historic working farm and homestead dating back to 1872. Major events include the Melbourne Cup Day (the peak of the exciting Victoria Spring Racing Carnival), Melbourne International Comedy Festival in March or April, the Taste of Victoria Festival in February and the Melbourne International Film Festival which is held mid-year.
