Ballarat: Attractions and more...
Ballarat Botanical Garden Reserve covers a region of around 40 hectares; which gets divided in to three distinct zones. On the sides, there seem to be ‘open parkland buffers’ called South and North Gardens. In the year 2007, this garden added a feather in its cap by celebrating its sesquicentenary.
Ex-Prisoner of War Memorial
This war memorial was dedicated on the 6th of February, 2004 (Friday). It’s situated on Southern approaches towards Ballarat Botanical Gardens; and adjoins Lake Wendouree. Off late, it has obtained status of being the ‘official National Prisoner of War Memorial’, thereby honoring around 35000 Australians who had been held prisoners at the time of Korean War, Second World War, First World War, and Boer War. An Australian can think of this place as that of national honor, healing, and remembrance.
