Victoria is a state located in the south-eastern corner of Australia. It is the smallest mainland state and is bordered by the Murray River in the north and South Australia in the west. The state lies at the southern end of the Great Dividing Range and shares the country’s shortest border with Tasmania. Victoria has a diverse topography with river systems and alpine areas.
Victorians like living life at a comfortable pace, and the state is known for its entertainment, cuisine, arts, festivals and a passion for the great outdoors. Its capital Melbourne is said to be a true multicultural city as it is home to many international communities including the third-largest Greek community in the world. Migrants from Europe, Asia and the Middle East also form sizeable numbers of the population.
A disconnected society with a lot of people who are of lower social economic stature. At the other end of the scale there are people who seem to have lots of money. These people are so into themselves that they don't get what is really happening out there, or is that the way it is these days. I feel that the town is on a downward trend because of factory closures or down sizing due to the greed of a few. Then again its a lot like any mid western American town with not many prospects for the future as far as jobs go for the young people. Too much late night alcohol consumption, to much racism towards anyone who is a bit different and the only thing it has that make people want to come here is shopping. BORING. Melbourne is a new world gem. It's by no coincidence that it has earned top place as the most liveble city in the world. In Melbourne there are a lot of activities going on simultanously. So if you're in Australia and missing Europe's culture, this is "the place to be". Melbourne is also surrounded by beautiful countryside and impressive National Parks which is an added plus.
