The city of Shepparton is located nearly 200km away from North-East of Melbourne, 185 kilometres form Albury and 4 kilometres from Mooroopna. It is the fifth biggest city of Victoria in Australia. The population of the city according to the 2005 census was 60403 in Greater Shepparton and 38773 in Shepparton-Mooroopna. It is an urban area surrounded by townships and suburbs including Dookie, Goulburn Valley, Mooroopna, Grahamvale, Murchison and Tatura.
Shepparton is a commercial centre situated between Namurkah in the Goulburn Valley Highway and Nagambie. It is the largest producer of canned foods. This city is situated in the agricultural region of Goulburn Valley, which produces nearly 25% of Victoria’s rural output. Shepparton is named after Sherbourne Sheppard, a squatter who held the Tallygaroopna Station. The city is a major centre of educational facilities and road transportation.
