Tawoango is a town located on the Kiewa Valley Highway in the north eastern part of Victoria in Australia. It lies at a distance of 350 kilometres to the north east of the capital city Melbourne. As per the census of the year 2006, the population of the city is estimated at 289. The city lies at an elevation of 1,083 feet. Wodonga, Wangaratta, Myrtleford, and Mount Beauty are the nearby cities. The 1st post office in this city was opened on 4th October, 1879. This city is spread over the upper reaches of the Kiewa valley and is well known for its beautiful countryside, river trout fishing, great camping facilities and views of Mount Bogong. One wine industry is located at the banks of the Kiewa Valley and is recently developing with its five basements. These basements provide samples of native grown cabernet sauvignon, Shiraz wines, grown merlot and pinot. Several cycling and walking paths can be found in and around the city.
