Maritime Museum
The themes of its galleries are maritime trade, the successful America's Cup yacht Australia II, fishing, the Swan River and the Indian Ocean. It has exhibits of Shipwrecks discovered off the Western Australian coast and Western Australia's Maritime endeavors.
It opens daily at 9.30 in the morning and is open till 1700 hours in the evenings. Its open to visitors throughout the year, Christmas day and Good Friday are the only two holidays, in its list of holidays.
The Round House
This is the only ancient building left, from the ones constructed in the years between 1830 – 1831, as a jail, in Western Australia. The manor had eight cells in all and also a residence; all these had an openining into a central courtyard.
Bay whaling was carried out, in 1800s, starting from Bathers Beach underneath the Round House. A tunnel was constructed under the Round House, as part of the whaling operations, which provided whalers an access to the town from the jetty and beach.
The Fremantle Markets
The markets were opened in 1897, which formed an area, where you have vegetable markets, dining halls, handicrafts, fish markets and specialty foods. The part is also popular for the street performers and buskers. Sir John Forrest, the head of state of Western Australia, laid the base stone for the markets, in the year 1897, on the sixth day in the month of November.
More than 150 stalls are housed in its old Victorian-era building; it has been listed by the National Trust and Heritage Council in 1980. Adjacently, there is a hotel named, Sail & Anchor Hotel, this is a historic building which contains a microbrewery.
