Roebourne can be described as an ancient ‘gold rush town’ located in Pilbara region of Western Australia. It lies at the distance of 202 Km from ‘Port Hedland’ and at the distance of 1563 Km from Perth, i.e. capital of Western Australia. Roebourne prospered at the time of gold boom on its part of late nineteenth century. Moreover, it had once been the largest settlement between Perth and Darwin.

The name ‘Roebourne’ has been derived from ‘John Septimus Roe’, i.e. the 1st ‘Surveyor General’ with regards to ‘Western Australia’. In the present context, Roebourne serves passing tourism and highway traffic; particularly as gateway to several national parks in interior.
