Kadavu: Where is, history and other tourist information to visit this place.

Tourist Guide Kadavu

The Kadavu Group in Fiji’s Eastern Division is an archipelago of islands of volcanic origin. The islands largely have a rugged topography and large areas are covered with rain forests.

Like the rest of Fiji, Kadavu too experiences a tropical maritime climate with barely any temperature fluctuations throughout the year. July is the coolest month while maximum rainfall is between December and April.

The largest island of the group also goes by the name Kadavu and has a population of approximately 10,000 inhabitants. Farming is the main occupation of the people; trade with the larger islands in Fiji also boosts the economy.

In the latter half of the nineteenth century, the island started attracting whalers and traders of sea cucumbers from Australia and USA, and thus, it became a port of call for larger vessels.
