Kadavu: Attractions and more...
Besides the two largest islands of the Kadavu Group, Kadavu and Ono, the group also consists of several smaller islands. Boats and small ferries are the best way to travel from one island to another.
Kadavu is best known for its natural beauty. Daku Beach, Waisalima Beach and the long stretches on the western coast house many resorts, some even providing accommodation in the authentic Fijian bures. The proximity of the Great Astrolabe Reef has made Kadavu a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkelling. It also has facilities for trekking, kayaking, surfing and bird watching. Vunisea is the main village on Kadavu Island and even boasts of an airport.
The Ono Island is surrounded entirely by the Astrolabe Reef. Dravuni is the northernmost inhabited island in the reef and is home to a research faction of the University of South Pacific.
