Tourist Guide Suva
Suva, the capital of Fiji, is located on the south-eastern coast of Viti Levu
island, S Pacific.
Suva is at the same time Fiji's main port city, the commercial and political
centre, and the largest city in the South Pacific outside of Australia and New
Zealand. In 2003 it has hosted the South Pacific Games.
Suva began as a late Victorian village with frame houses and stores along the
beachfront and it became the capital of Fiji in 1882, taking the place of Levuka.
Today Suva is a very attractive city with a multiracial population mix of Fijians,
Indians, Europeans, Chinese and South Pacific Islanders.
