Tourist Guide Taveuni
Taveuni is known as the garden island of Fiji because of its lush, verdant expanses of greenery that abound with tropical vegetation, wildlife and flowers.
The island is located 7 kilometres off the southeast coast of Vanua Levu and covers an area of approximately 460 sq km.
Taveuni enjoys the mild tropical climate that prevails in most of Fiji; it is sunny and warm throughout the year, with occasional short-lived thundershowers. The island is home to approximately 12,000 inhabitants descended from a line of fierce and proud warriors who now reside in typical Fijian villages. Taveuni is known for its friendly hospitality, traditional Fijian villages, picturesque natural beauty and large coconut plantations.
