In 1777, Captain James Cook discovered the Island of Bora Bora where the Polynesian people had lived since the 4th century.

The people of Bora Bora are known to be among the friendliest people on earth. Although Bora Bora was used as a military supply base by the Americans during World War II, Bora Bora has never heard the sound of a gun shot.

It is easy to fall in love with the island because of its natural beauty.

The island has very few and narrow beaches although it is known as a beach destination.

Bora Bora beaches are famous for scuba diving, offering breathtaking views of underwater life in its blue lagoons.

The lagoons are home to many species of sharks and rays. The two main dive centres offer daring shark feeding excursions.

Snorkelling also offers some very bright and colourful fish to be viewed and photographed. Bungalows here have a glass floor and some of them have stairs that go down to the ocean floor giving you an unbelievable marine view in your home.

The Matira is the main beach and it is the only public beach on the island. The beach is exotic and renowned as a dream destination for photography.
