French Polynesian cuisine is a result of South Pacific cooking methods employed with French gastronomy. A common feature of Polynesian cooking is Tamara (food wrapped in banana leaves) and cooked in ahima (traditional oven pits).

National specialities include smoked breadfruit, fafa (spinach with young suckling pig) and a variety of seafood.

The national drink is Noni Juice, the therapeutic juice from Noni tree. Hinano is the famous beer from Tahiti.
