French Polynesia : Health and Safety

A yellow fever vaccination is required for those coming from infected areas. Visitors to French Polynesia are recommended to get Hepatitis A vaccination. Dengue fever outbreaks are on the rise; hence, travellers should be cautious. A vaccine against typhoid is recommended for those visiting for a longer duration.

The tap water in hotels is safe for drinking. But, bottled water, available freely, is considered safer. Several pharmacies and adequate medical facilities are available.

French Polynesia is a stable country, trouble-free with a very low crime rate. But, it is always better to be cautious especially with one’s belongings. Tourists are advised to remain vigilant in crowded tourist spots.

Having a tropical climate, French Polynesia is prone to tropical storms and cyclones, which generally occur between the months of November and April.
