Tourist Guide Moorea
A windward island, Moorea is part of the Society Islands. Surrounded by a clear green lagoon, Moorea is a triangular island on the cerulean blue Polynesian Sea.
With a population of about 14,000 inhabitants, Moorea’s jagged peaks masked in lush greenery and its sandy beaches make it a Polynesian dream come true.
Moorea has a tropical but moderate climate. The summer season, from November to April, is hot and humid, with plenty of tropical sunshine. The Polynesian winter, from May to October, offers sunny and pleasant days, cooled by the gentle breeze of the ocean.
Moorea does not have a main village or town. Papetoai and Haapiti, which are the main tourist centres, offer a variety of hotels and guest houses. On the North coast, the two major bays of Cook and Opunohu are particularly fascinating.
