Dumbea can be described as one of the communes located in suburbs of ‘Noumea’ in New Caledonia’s South Province. New Caledonia is amongst the overseas territories of France; within Pacific Ocean.
Dumbea’s total area comes out to be 254 sq. Km; within limits set forth in the year 1878 by Governor Guillain.
Communes of Mont Dore, Noumea, Paita, and Dumbea go on to form a metropolitan region; which is, at times, referred to as discontinuous ‘Grand Noumea’; wherein Dumbea happens to claim specific identity.
Rural tourism on the northern side and urban development on the southern side construct a combined picture as well as dynamics of common Dumbea.
As per census conducted in the year 1996, population of Dumbea was 14000. Furthermore, number of households calculated was 3364; with 4.1 persons/household. Around 57.36% of total population was found to be below 29 years of age.
