The Otara Market is a flea market visited by about five thousand people every Saturday.
In this market, people of different cultures living in New Zealand have stalls where they sell different traditional items.
Pacific Islanders sell tapa cloth and their traditional quilts.
Indians and Chinese selling food delicacies from their part of the world are also among the stall owners. The market is a fun place to go, but thinking it is a place to get only cheap goods would definitely be a mistake.
The well know Dawn Raid Street brand, favoured by top music artists, was first sold at the Otara Flea Market. There are more than 250 stalls for you to browse through, all the while being accompanied by Pacific Island music and the haunting aromas of doughnuts from Cook Island and Chinese pork buns.
Whether you are looking for unique clothing, Pacific Island crafts, fresh fruit, vegetables or even jewellery, you will not leave the market empty handed.
