Important places to visit in the city include Hamilton Gardens, Hamilton Zoo, Arts Post art gallery and Waikato Museum.  Hamilton Gardens is a cluster of public gardens managed and owned by Hamilton City Council in New Zealand. The garden was opened in the year 1960. This is the most popular tourist spot of the region. The garden is the venue for around 2000 events per year. It is also said that the city attracts around 600,000 visitors in a year. This garden lies between the state highway 1 and the banks of the Waikato River.
