Paihia: Attractions and more...

When in Paihia, make sure you visit the beaches. Apart from the picturesque beauty, they also offer a lot of options for adventure sports such as swimming, surfing, sea kayaking and snorkelling. There are also a number of walking tracks in Paihia that are ideal for exploration.

Also visit Te Waimate Mission Station, a Georgian-style architectural masterpiece and the second oldest building in New Zealand. Other places that merit a visit include Saint Paul’s Church, the first church in New Zealand, the Waitangi National Reserves, with a rare collection from New Zealand’s glorious past, and the Kauri Museum.

Kerikeri, at a little distance from Paihia, is famous for its orchards, wineries and art galleries. Also of interest are the Hararu Falls, Cape Brett and ‘Hole in the Rock.

Selling local products, paintings and other items worth collecting, The Cabbage Tree is a shopper’s delight.
