Tauranga is a port city and is located in the western part of the Bay of Plenty in the North Island of New Zealand.
This city is one of the largest city and urban area in the Bay of Plenty and one of the fastest growing cities in this region. The early settlers in this city were Takitimu and Mataaatua wake in the early 12th century. At that time yhe city got its name as Tauranga that mens the landing place.
Earlier trading in Flax were active among them the first permanent trader was James Farrow who traveled all the way to get flax fibre for the merchants of Australia for gunpowder and muskets.
These days Tauranga is fast growing city in New Zealand. Since the land has proved successful in farming where lots of vegetables are grown that are used for domestic purpose as well as for export. Also the place is famous for avocados, kiwifruit and tangelos a grapefruit. The principal transportation mode over here is car and taxi.
The climate of this place is quite moderate and can be visited at any time of the year.
The population of this place comes to 110,500 as per 2008 census.
