South Canterbury Museum
South Canterbury Museum is located in a contemporary octagonal building. It goes on to offer survey with regards to natural as well as man-made history of Timaru area; apart from material on early flights; that too, by Richard Pearse, pioneer of aviation which can be traced to the year 1903. An obelisk is located just opposite to this museum. It commemorates victims of 2 shipwrecks (dating to 1882).
