Tourist Guide Madang
A gorgeous peninsula town located in the South Pacific, Madang the capital of Madang Province is set against a calm, picturesque backdrop of mountains and corals. It is located on the north coast of Papua New Guinea, around 60 minutes from Port Moresby by flight.
It is characterized by a warm, wet climate, the temperature ranging around 28ºC–30ºC. While it is relatively dry from around July to September, the monsoons dominate from November to May.
With a population of 27,420 (in 2005), Madang is linguistically and culturally diverse; it has the largest mix of 175 languages and people from various communities. The natives are known to be extremely hospitable and epitomize the relaxed Pacific disposition.
This province is the country’s third-largest producer of cocoa and copra and the second-largest source of cattle.
