Talking about crime. it is dangerous when you pose your own danger, doesn't cost a penny so talk or simple smile to the very people that your instincts tells you that they are drug bodies or street vendors, your so called acting white can cost your life. It's not that expensive as compared to port moresby where you will need money to survive, even to drink a glass of water. Last but not the list the least, stay away from the death racer. cheers
Generally, Lae is a good place to be but the only problem that needs to be prioritize is the road conditions. But it should be fine within 2-3 years time because at the moment, all the road linkages are under maintenance. Lae does have very affordable hotels like Melanesian Hotel and Lae International Hotel.People may make negative comments about Lae but its not that, just a matter of yourself come here and see.
