Apia: Attractions and more...
The first stop for all visitors to Apia should be the Samoa Visitors Bureau—located near the Government Building—for information related to accommodation, food and drink and local events.
Apia is an ideal starting point for visitors looking to explore Samoa’s phenomenal natural features. Popular attractions include trips into the rainforest or to the nearby Papapapaitai Falls, which plunge 500 feet into a volcanic crater, surrounded by lush greenery. Another natural attraction is the Papaseea Sliding Rock—a natural slide located inside a waterfall.
Those less naturally inclined can visit the Old Apia Market, which was once a vegetable market but now features a large flea market for a wide variety of items, including Samoan handicrafts and mats. Another popular attraction is the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, which is located 5 km south of Apia and pays tribute to the famous writer who spent the last years of his life in Samoa.
