Puerto Santa Cruz is home to several historical monuments such as the mausoleum, which contains the remains of the town’s first governor; the Church Exaltacion de la Santa Cruz, one of the oldest buildings of the town; and the Regional Museum Carlos Borgialli, which has several displays about the history of the region.
The estuary of the river provides ample opportunity for various water sports like kayaking, water surfing etc. and is also ideal for fishing enthusiasts.
Not much further away is the Monte Leon Island, a sea reserve. It is home to a colony of sea lions as well as some other unique fauna in the surrounding waters. La Olla, a cave which has been formed by the ocean waters hitting the rock, can be easily accessed at low tide.
Another interesting spot in the vicinity is the Punta Entrada Penguin Colony which is home to more than 20,000 penguins.
